The MDHL (Michigan Developmental Hockey League) is off to a great start after competing in nine games through the first two weeks of its regular season.

After going through the tryout process, the league settled on six teams, with representatives from across the state of Michigan. MDHL Green is comprised of players entirely from west Michigan while other teams feature individuals from as far as Petoskey, Traverse City and Alpena.

"League play has been tremendous the first two weekends," League executive director Bill Burns said. "There has been a great pace of play and the amount of scouts that have been in attendance has been outstanding."

Through the first two weeks, scouts from several different levels including the NHL, USHL and NAHL have dropped by Plymouth Cultural Center to observe the MDHL's highly-competitive league play.

League play will continue through the end of October with breaks for teams to be selected and participate in various tournaments.
